Sandra Calderón
Sandra Calderon Llinas was born in Mexico City. She studied Communication at the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey ITESM, has a Master's Degree in Psychopedagogy and is a Montessori guide. As a plastic artist she has a solid career of more than 20 years, where she has perfected herself with various studies.
Her great passion is painting. The beauty of animals, a building, a person, nature, a piece of fabric with color or without color, seduces her to capture it on a canvas. Another of her great passions is traveling. The Casa Rosada in Argentina, the sea in Cancun, the Pagodas or a balloon ride in Bagan, sunsets in Monterrey or the Murano shops in Venice, are reasons for inspiration to paint. In her works, “Lolo” is always present, a bird hidden between lines and strokes, between colors and tones to provoke a constant search in each work, both for the viewer and the artist. Over time you continue to discover new figures within her work.
“I do not repeat figures in the same color, if they are white they can be black, but never white again. It is a whole with its parts, just as we are made up of many different parts from others.”
Sandra Calderon Llinas' work has been exhibited in internationally renowned galleries such as Art Fusion Gallery in Miami, Florida; Duque Arango Gallery of Medellin, Colombia; and in the Social Network Art Competition at Casa Lamm Gallery in San Francisco, California in which the work “Gallo rojo” received the Platinum Award granted by SNAC. She has 40 exhibitions in venues such as the Expresarte Gallery in the city of Chihuahua, the Isauro Martinez Theater in Torreon, the Guadalupe City Museum, the Bernabe de las Casas Museum, the San Pedro Culture House, the Plaza Fatima Cultural Center, the Puerta Rosa Cultural Center, Universidad de Monterrey UDEM, Chroma San Pedro, Lorena Carrillo’s Gallery, Alpino Chipinque, Palestino Libanes and Club Deportivo San Agustin. Her participation during 16 consecutive broadcasts in the Red Cross Exhibition at the BANAMEX Center and the Third Place Prize in the MACH contest, selected from more than 300 artists, stand out.
Her work is part of private collections in Florence, Paris, London, Hamburg, Medellin, Phoenix, Washington, Dallas, Miami, Mexico City, Torreon, Merida, Los Cabos, Chihuahua, Saltillo and Monterrey.
